The Bible is full of tales of men — David and Goliath, Cain and Abel, Noah, Moses, the 12 disciples — but what does the Bible have to say about women? As it turns out, quite a bit, and these empowering Bible verses about women, straight from the Great Text itself, prove just that.
Notable women figures from the Bible include Eve, Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Esther, and more. Each woman exemplified different traits and aspects of womanhood — Eve: love and companionship, Mother Mary: selflessness and care, Mary Magdalene: loyalty and faith, Esther: kindness and compassion.
While the Bible can be bold and outright questionable at times in its discussion of women (especially as we look at it through a modern gaze), it’s important to read between the lines and consider what real message the Lord is sending through these tales, like all stories in the Bible.
From God’s mouth to your eyes, read through, and reflect on these prominent Bible verses about women.

1 Timothy 5:2
“Treat older women like your mother, and treat younger women like your sisters with appropriate respect.”
The Good News: Being a woman means you’re a part of a sisterhood that spans across time and continents. How you treat a “sister” or a “mother” is how you encourage them to treat you and other women, so let it be in a manner of encouragement and respect.

Exodus 15:20
“Then the prophet Miriam, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand. All the women followed her playing tambourines and dancing.”
The Good News: One of the great things about being a woman is that there is always a group of wonderful women to support you in your endeavors. If you pick up a tambourine, they’ll dance alongside you; if you fall, they’ll be there to pick you up.

Matthew 28:5-7
“But the angel said to the women, ‘Don’t be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He isn’t here because He’s been raised from the dead, just as He said. Come, see the place where they laid Him. Now hurry, go and tell His disciples, ‘He’s been raised from the dead. He’s going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there.’ I’ve given the message to you.’”
The Good News: Women are and have the capacity to be great communicators and messengers. That is why an angel entrusted a woman to share the news of Jesus’s resurrection with the disciples.

The Good News: Imposter syndrome is especially prevalent among women. We question whether we are good enough or worthy enough for many of the things that happen in our lives, but know that God wouldn’t set something in your path unless it was meant for you.

Ephesians 2:10
“Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.”
The Good News: When it comes to the Bible, there can be this idea that women are second to men — they were created from them. But it’s worth remembering that women were made to do more than aid men. Women were created to spread goodness throughout the world, as God’s accomplishment.

Matthew 27:54-56
“When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and what had just happened, they were filled with awe and said, ‘This was certainly God’s Son.’ Many women were watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to serve Him. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.”
The Good News: When people think of Jesus’s followers, many think of His disciples, but many notable women, such as Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, and more, played a pivotal role in His life. They stood by His side from birth to death to resurrection and showed steadfast loyalty and support to Jesus, a common and valuable trait among women.
